Exploring Haunted Halloween, part 2!

Hey y'all — it's time for another tour through the vast Mieville Historical Hunts Haunted Halloween Event sites. In our first Exploring Haunted Halloween installment we covered Shelley and Chesterton. This post we'll snoop around the rest of the sims, including Dragonsworn, Poe, Story Brook, and Kipling. Get your Frankenstein Flats on, we're gonna cover a lot of territory and we don't want your feet to hurt!

Tip: Use the event site portals to get to these sites — the portals are fun! Here's the link for the main portal site at Chesterton to help you get started. Just touch the portal's steps, choose the place you want to visit, and awaa-aaay you go!

First, Dragonsworn has a number of sites listed in the transportation portals. The theme of Dragonsworn is creepy carnival rides, envisioned by Dragonsworn, Amanda Dench of Dench Designs, Kerhop Seattle, and the folks at Lineage. If you have ever wanted to ride giant spiders or dance with your choice of ghouls, now's your chance! There's lots to explore here and plenty of photo ops!

Top row, L-R: Dragonsworn, Dench Designs; Bottom row, L-r: Kerhop Seattle ride, Lineage site

Next, Poe has a haunted corner site listed in the portal.

I don't know much about the haunted part but here's part of a mighty attractive graveyard set out by Sarah Dalrymple. Nice!

Next, the newly redesigned sim of Story Brooke Resort at Mieville Docks has a couple fun sites to visit, both of which are listed in the transportation portals, so I won't insert the various SLurls here. Just use the Event site portals to get here!

The portal's "Haunted Building" site lands you at Sanna's collection of crazy mayhem psychedelic textures galore, some with a Halloween theme, others general mayhem. Love Sanna! 👻

The "Pumpkin Shops" are literally shops inside of cute hollowed-out pumpkins. Merchants/ shops here include Kim's Kreations, Liam Metaluna's Ye Olde Panda Panda, Dinkie and Professional Attire clothing shops from Beth Ghostraven, Miss Violet's shop, Country Crafter from Aquarius Denimore, 2xtreme by AeriaBlaze, and Rozamyndi's Hats. 🎃

Next, we'll spend some time going through Kipling!

The Kipling Piazza is the portal's one site identified as Kipling. This is the pretty plaza site with lots of stores. It's not clear whether all / which shops are participating in Haunted Halloween or have in-theme items for sale, but it's good to know what's here and give a visit! Again, use the portals to get here!

On one side of the plaza you'll find McMinnar's Oddments (by Jalynne Ohmai), Kittycat's Textures (Kittycat Ninetails), Butterflies (Fergie Loudwater), and A Little Cuqui Shop (Sorsha Xaron).    On the other side are Angel Fae Boutique (Sorrell Scorpio), Impertinences (nana Saenz), TFF (Tayren Theas), Bren's (bredoll2), Panthar Sounds (Lara Panthar), and Singularities, 1 prim décor by Cara Cali.

The anchor store of the plaza is Kim's Kreations. I couldn't resist posing with this creepy little ghoul hiding in a hollowed out pumpkin, just outside of the shop. Yikes — he wanted to nibble on my lace dress! 😱

Last, we'll visit spooky Skellington Manor at Kipling. This one is not in the portal or notecards but there is a lot to see here! Roger Thunders & Sorrell Scorpio designed the Haunted Manor and filled its multiple levels with scary scenarios and activities.

First, visit the Ground Floor Portal to enter Skellington Manor.

Be sure to touch the "Enter" sign to my left to learn about all the things you can do and see inside Skellington Manor. Then touch the portal to enter - woo, get ready! There are activities and things to find on every level!

Who knew there would be a dance party here? Dancing skeletons and more are on the 1st level of Skellington Manor, including a graveyard and crypts, witch's cabin, and a vampire's lair!

Or a creepy mad scientist lab? This is on the 2nd level, along with a Voodoo Mart, evil asylum, a haunted forest and graveyard!

Or a... well, I don't even know what this is! Wait — this candy-cane nightmare up on the 3rd level must be the witch's candy trap! There's also a haunted pirate ship and creepy forest up here.

All this should be plenty to keep you busy, exploring Haunted Halloween and having fun! Hope this motivates you to keep on exploring and enjoy!

Exploring Haunted Halloween!

Whoa, there is SO much going on at Mieville's Historical Hunts Haunted Halloween event! Themed markets, games, and activities are taking place across several Mieville sims, and all feature Halloween decor galore, with an occasional dollop or two of gore. Let's take a quick tour of a couple Mieville regions starting with Shelley and Chesterton.

All of the sites I visited in Mieville Shelley are accessible via the Haunted Halloween teleport portals. This portal below is located in Chesterton.

On the right of this portal is Roger Thunders' site with instructions for the Event's multi-sim scavenger game. You can earn points by collecting various objects and then redeem them for prizes. Read all about how to get started by visiting this site!

Next, if you touch a portal's steps, a menu pops up with 23 (!) different sites to visit. The first one listed is Cara Cali's Botanica in Shelley, a nice colorful place to start! You'll find tons of seasonal holiday items at Botanica, both decorating the site and for sale.

Just across the road you'll find more great shops including Grasshopper Street (by Mitra Ardwyad), WonderWorks (Roger Thunders), Witch's Corner (Ellen Sideways), and FT design (Akiv Wizardly).

From there I decided to visit other Shelley sites listed in the portal. These included EED Home and Garden (by BB Woodford), Angel Fae Boutique (Sorrell Scorpio), Kharg Haunted (Keanu Kharg), and Witch Haven Games, a central site for games at Shelley. You can see from the photos below that there are photo ops and neat things to explore at all of them! The Games site includes vendors where you can redeem scavenger game points for prizes, shown in the photo below. All of these Shelley sites can be reached directly by the portals so I won't put in lm's here. Use the portals — they're fun!

Top, L-R: EED Home & Garden, Angel Fae Boutique; Bottom, L-R: Kharg Haunted, Witch Haven games.

In comparison, you really do need to walk or fly around Chesterton or have lm's to discover everything as the portal does not include many Chesterton sites! There's a ton of shopping here, a mini-hunt, games, and some unique sites. So put your witchy walking shoes on and let's take a quick spin through Chesterton!

The first thing you might notice about Chesterton is how colorful everything is, and there is a fair amount of gore. And murder, mayhem, flowers, and green slime. And at least one demonic alligator. And grenades, blasters, and bombs...

(at Dj Dragon's site); Bottom, L-R: Cemetery Shop Industries (by Damon Salvatore), purveyor of animesh ghouls & gators, and Evolution King, purveyor of grenades, blasters, bombs 'n' more.

And then there are bright, colorful, full-perm, family-friendly, and slightly spooky shops to explore...

These include (L-R above) nana Saenz's colorful and animated México lindo / Día de los Muertos tribute, with many items for sale including a winged flying skeleton and more. Nearby, the Builders Factory (by Pierre Ceriano) has a number of creepy full-perm objects for sale, plus expertly-made textures. nana has more beautiful-spooky items for sale at her Impertinences booth and creepy animesh dance party, both also at Chesterton.
Chesterton Mieville Haunted Halloween - Haunted Victorian House by Jamie, Sebby & Meadow

Chesterton Mieville Haunted Halloween - Dragonsworn shop

Our Anuenue friends Jamie Peterson, Sebby Tiogar, and Meadow Copperfield collaborated on a family-friendly section of Chesterton that includes a haunted Victorian mansion (left, above) and a mini-hunt. Find out more at the house. Their respective shops are nearby the mansion too. I love the Wizard's Apprentice brooms with buckets — watch out when you land there, wink wink!

The Dragonsworn booth (right, above) by Annakari Genesis has cute-spooky dolls, little wizards, sad broken bunnies and more for sale. This booth is tucked inside a tower like a hollowed-out tree — don't miss it!

Wander around and you'll find many other interesting shops with great products:

Chesterton Haunted Halloween - Dalrymple Shop
Chesterton Haunted Halloween - Orchid Petal Designs, Lindy Shoes, Dolome Designs

Locations for Shops shown above:

2nd row: Shaman's Hut (Prokofy Neva), Anouka Cvercko's site
3rd row: %Percent (Plato Novo), Dalrymple shop (Sarah Dalrymple)

Last, I want to end this looong post on a bit of a personal note. Some of you know that each year at this time I build an altar for Día de los Muertos. I do it not for fun kitschy reasons but to honor and remember those who have passed. This is the 1st time I have built my altar at an "Event" rather than at the Bibliothèque.

Please do visit the Bibliothèque's little altar if you are interested in Mexican culture / traditional Día de los Muertos observances, or if you wish to honor those who have passed. You will see our dear Mr. Mayor Perryn Peterson honored there, along with Mieville's master DJ Ktahdn Vesuvino and others. How many traditional components can you identify, and do you know why they are there?
This year I added my own calaveritas literarias, or Little Skull Poems. These are little poems that make fun of death, and they are components of many traditional Día de los Muertos celebrations in Mexico. Near the feet of Mictlantecutli and Coatlicue (Aztec God of death and Patroness of life and death), there are some small brightly colored books. Just touch them to receive my silly calaveritas — enjoy!
(Oh, pssst: I should point out that la Santa Muerte does not belong as part of a Día de los Muertos celebration. But I do like that statue by nana Saenz and her Catrina statue to the right of the door. If Catrina is ok with Santa being there, I can be too... ) 😇
Okay — that's it for this post! Please give a shout out if I missed some shops here!

Sneak Peek: Mieville's Haunted Halloween & Games Galore!

Hey all, Mieville's Haunted Halloween is coming your way SOON on Friday Oct. 13

(Yup, you read that right: Friday the 13th!) Are you getting into the Halloween spirit yet?

Here's your sneak peek about games and activities coming up at the event:

Poster of Halloween game created by Roger Thunders
There will be four different scavenger games at different Mieville regions: Chesterton will have a Pumpkin Guardians game, a Pumpkin Flower game will be at Kipling, Shelley will have a Witch Hat game, and Dragonsworn will have a Cat Guardian game.

All of these games have been developed by Roger Thunders, Mieville's Games Master!

The games are easy to play! Collect points by finding and touching each game's scavenger object. You can then redeem those points for prizes donated by participating merchants. Stay tuned for more details.

Psst merchants, if you'd like to participate by donating a gift, please contact Roger for how-to info. Much appreciated!

While scouting around the sims, Roger also found other fun activities being planned: Looks like there will be a haunted house mini-hunt with multiple prizes at Chesterton, a haunted tunnel and creepy tower with creepy stuff inside 👻 (hey, no spoilers here!) 😉 and a ghost train ride over in Shelley, and many games and carnival rides over in Dragonsworn!

Merchants will also have booths at these participating sims and will be offering plenty of Halloween products for sale and many other cool items. As of this writing, set-up is still going on for all of the above so I'm not including landmarks just yet. Just counting the days... get out your Halloween costumes and candy pails, everyone! And many thanks to Roger for his reconnaissance work, lol!
